XYZ Studio
The internal renovation developed of the XYZ Studio involves the adaptive reuse of a 72 sqm former workshop in Milan, reconfigured as a compact yet highly articulated workspace.
The project is based on a spatial reorganization strategy and a precise calibration of custom furnishings, aimed at optimizing functional efficiency while supporting collaborative and research-driven activities.
The layout is structured around a large open coworking area, conceived as the primary operational field of the studio and directly connected to two complementary environments: a kitchen space designed for informal interaction and a fabrication area (fab lab) equipped for prototyping and 3D printing.
These spaces operate as an integrated system supporting design development, material experimentation, and day-to-day production. A more enclosed and acoustically controlled room defines the strategic core of the office, hosting the meeting room and the partners’ workstations.
This environment functions as the decision-making hub of the practice, balancing concentration, representation, and internal coordination.
The intervention preserves the industrial character of the existing shell, adopting a restrained and minimal architectural language. Finishes and materials are selected for their neutrality and durability, while the reduction of formal and decorative elements reinforces spatial clarity and flexibility.
The project frames interior architecture as an enabling infrastructure: a precise, adaptable setting designed to accommodate creative processes, technical work, and collective exchange.
